Apollo College was founded in Tempe, AZ in 1979. The school originally featured courses for medical secretaries and medical and dental assistants. Since that time the programs offered at Apollo have dramatically expanded.

NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY (Bachelors program)

The Film School at the New York Film Academy was founded in 1992 on a belief that a top quality education in filmmaking should be accessible to anyone with the drive and ambition to make films. The Academy opened its doors in 1992 in Robert DeNiro‘s Tribeca Film Center. Since that time we have grown into our own facilities in Manhattan‘s Union Square and Soho; as well as, a degree granting campus in Los Angeles at Universal Studios. We hold One and Two-Year and short-term programs throughout the year in these locations; as well as, degree programs at the Universal Studios Campus. During the summer we offer our short-term programs at a number of additional locations, including Harvard University; Disney Studios- Florida; Paris, France; London, England; and Florence and Rome, Italy.

The New York Film Academy is working with a growing number of universities to allow students to earn bachelor’s degrees in conjunction with courses taken at the New York Film Academy.

Credits earned in any of our film school programs may be submitted to any college or university in the United States for transfer credit. All transcripts and college credits are processed and issued solely by the New York Film Academy’s academic headquarters at Universal Studios, California. No additional per credit fee is required.

Every university has its own credit transfer policy. New York Film Academy cannot guarantee that credits earned will be accepted. If possible, students should request the credit transfer policy from their school of choice before the transfer process commences. You may consult the credit table below for an idea of how many credits may be transferred.

The Los Angeles City College Cinema Television Department offers a low-cost, comprehensive hands-on training program that provides both basic and advanced courses in film, video and television studio production. Students may earn a two-year Associate in Arts degree along with a variety of certificates in cinema or television.

Located in modern facilities designed by the renowned architect William L. Pereira, the Department has extensive audio and camera equipment packages for student use as well as a sound stage, two television three-camera studios, numerous 16mm and digital editing rooms, three screening rooms, three non-linear multi-station computer labs and other audio and video postproduction systems.

ADVANTAGES

We have a modern production facility that includes a 99-seat theater with 16mm, 35mm and digital video projection systems. In addition we have three multi-station non-linear computer labs (27, 30 and 40 stations), a professional soundstage, additional projection and mixing rooms and numerous film and digital non-linear editing suites.

Los Angeles Junior College was established on September 9, 1929 by the Los Angeles Board of Education. The college offered “semi-professional courses” for students who wanted to limit their college education to two year, and “certificate courses” for those looking to continue toward university work. The first Associate in Arts degrees were conferred June 19, 1931.

With the establishment of its Commercial Music curriculum in 1946, LA City College became the first college in the nation to offer a degree in jazz. Indeed, numerous important jazz musicians attended LA City College, including Herb Alpert, Chet Baker, Irving Bush, Eric Dolphy, Bob Florence, Herb Geller, Jerry Goldsmith, Les McCann, Charlie Mingus, Lennie Niehaus, Tommy Oliver, Jack Sheldon, Julius Wechter and Hal Owen.

This program at Pacific emphasizes Oriental medical theory, tui na and the development of the students’ ability to understand the causes and symptoms of disease. This ability will allow Pacific massage practitioners to customize their massage therapy to their client’s individual needs. This is critical in achieving the optimum therapeutic effect. Asian Bodywork Therapy has grown into a recognized specialty supported by the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia and certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Students in this program receive an introduction to the valuable theories of Chinese medicine and specialize in a multitude of Asian bodywork therapies, including tui na, shiatsu, Thai massage and others.

The Massage Therapy/Asian Bodywork program prepares students for certification by National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and by National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. The animation program encompasses character, non-character and experimental animation. Character animation fuses acting, performance and the principles of movement to create believable, genuine, emotive characters.
