Overview
There are a nearly infinite number of career possibilities when it comes to design, simply because designers are needed in almost every business and industry. Interior design, clothing design, graphic design, landscape design, product design—the list goes on and on. Even the flower arrangements you send to your wife or girlfriend were created by a floral designer!
Regardless of what field of design interests you, as a student of design you will learn how to take the raw materials in your particular field (e.g., color, fabric, type, software, plastic) and use your creative genius to fashion those raw materials into something functional and aesthetically pleasing. If you’re studying graphic design, you’ll learn how to make eye-popping layouts for the web or print; if you’re studying interior design, you’ll study color, texture and spatial combinations, and so on. When you’re finished, you’ll be ready to take those ideas you’ve had roaming around in your brain, and turn them into tangible products the public can appreciate and enjoy.

The animation program encompasses character, non-character and experimental animation. Character animation fuses acting, performance and the principles of movement to create believable, genuine, emotive characters.
Character design, story structure and strong animation fundamentals are used by students to create a short, animated film project in their senior year. Fundamentals and the development of the “craft” of animation are stressed. Students may produce animations fusing both traditional and computer techniques. Non-character animation focuses on visual effects, abstract animation or the motion of inanimate objects. Students are encouraged to combine media to produce original, creative work and content.
