Create and edit your own short film and TV shows. Work alongside industry professionals on real-world productions. In Tribeca Flashpoint’s Film & Broadcast Associate program, you’ll accomplish all this while students at other schools are just getting started.
You’ll begin immediately by assuming real-world roles in broadcast and film productions. Then, you will select a focus in screenwriting, directing, producing, post-production, cinematography, or broadcasting. By the end of the program, you’ll be prepared to enter the industry with an Associate of Applied Science degree, a portfolio and demo reel of high-end film and broadcast projects, and real-world experience.

DESCRIPTION
The Film & Media Culture department is the place at Middlebury to study film production as well as criticism and history. We do not see ourselves as a “film school,” as we do not specialize in production and our curriculum is not primarily designed to prepare students for jobs in the industry. Instead, we believe that film and media are a key part of a liberal arts curriculum, and the creative process in all art forms strengthens a student’s education.
Students can get hands-on education in video production, animation, digital art, and writing for the screen as a component of a broader education in film and media.

DESCRIPTION
F&M’s Film & Media Studies curriculum reflects the liberal arts orientation of the department and the college as a whole. It is our philosophy that smart and gifted young people who wish to pursue a career in film or the media are best served by a well-rounded education in the field, which includes challenging analytical courses in addition to a variety of practical courses.
We also make a point to open all of our courses to students from across the curriculum, since in today’s media saturated world, students in every discipline benefit from training in media analysis and production. Indeed, although some of our students do become film and media professionals, many go on to pursue careers in other fields, including business, law, science, writing, art, and higher education.

DESCRIPTION
It all starts with imagination, ideas and the script. Creative producers and screenwriters learn to analyze and write screenplays by understanding character, structure and narrative story elements, then assemble and collaborate with key creative artists to form a combined vision through a project’s development, pre-production, production and post-production.
Filmmakers will perfect both the creative and business aspects of filmmaking by enhancing and developing artistic proficiency and judgment and becoming immersed in a solid background of the entertainment industry.
