Overview
In its most basic sense, “media” refers to any/all avenues used to communicate or convey a message. Media can encompass journalism, television/radio broadcasting, graphic design, social networks, web design, photography, and a nearly infinite number of other avenues. When you train for a career in media, at the heart of it, you’re training in the art of communication.
As a student of media, you’ll learn many avenues of communication, especially in the graphic arts—and you’ll learn how to any number of these channels to communicate effectively to your desired audience. You’ll learn about text, color and multimedia, and how these elements are best combined to communicate. You’ll also learn the particular words, phrases and even color combinations that are best suited for the message you’re trying to send. Media is such a broad field that you’ll likely want to specialize in some form of it; but whatever form you choose, you will learn how to become a skilled communicator, using your creativity to convey messages to the world.

Creative professionals who are able to understand “the big picture” and meet the demands of both the boardroom and the design studio have never been in such high demand, as businesses seek ways to maximize the impact that a single picture or just a few well-place words can have on an audience.
