Overview

Technically speaking, “media arts” can refer to anything having to do with artistic side of media, particularly visual art—encompassing television, film, graphic design, and so on. However, in most instances, “media arts” refers to the digital forms of art, like computer graphics, video games, animation, web design, and multimedia. If you’re a creative person who’s interested in technology, media arts might be just the field for you.

As a student of media arts, you’ll learn about all aspects of digital creation, from drawing to animation to 2-D and 3-D computer graphics. You’ll learn the many ways digital art can be used, and how to create eye-catching multimedia presentations with your artistic gifts. You’ll learn how digital art can tell a story, and you’ll learn how to use that art form to tell stories of your own. Before long, you’ll be equal parts computer wizard and artistic genius, ready for a rewarding career in digital media.

ADVANTAGES

Your web design courses will be taught by instructors who know what they are talking about in the field of web design. Ithaca College – Film, Photography and Visual Arts

Location: NY-Ithaca
Students per Class: 11-20
Tuition to Graduate: $33,630
Subject: Cinematography, Film Studies, Screenwriting

DESCRIPTION

If you’re interested in the creative possibilities of the visual media, consider entering our bachelor of fine arts program. The film, photography, and visual arts program differs from the B.S. program in cinema and photography by adding coursework in the other fine arts. Rather than focusing on one specific medium, you’ll be encouraged to explore the whole spectrum of visual culture.

Beginning in your freshman year, you’ll take many of the same classes in photography and film production as cinema and photography majors (bring your own digital SLR camera and light meter), and you’ll spend as much time in the darkroom or at an editing station as they do. But you’ll also venture into the television studios for video production classes and trek over to the art studio for lessons in drawing.
