DESCRIPTION

From that first spark of an idea born as an illustration, to fabric choice and the drape on a dress form, fashion design is an imaginative problem solving activity that brings a vision to an artistic creation. When you major in Fashion Design at CCAD you work to achieve a balance of trend-setting innovation and an intelligent sense of style.

We offer both design and technical skills, with a curriculum that leads you through all aspects of garment design and construction, whether your vision is more traditional and functional or untried and edgy. Courses in the program include pattern making, surface design, and tailoring. And because highly successful designers must also meet the wants and desires of the retail culture, CCAD provides students with experience in merchandising methods and sales psychology.

ADVANTAGES

Career Services assists students and alumni in self-direction and personal responsibility as they develop their career planning and placement goals. The office hosts Directions Career Fair to expose employers to student portfolios and workshops for student professional development.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

Each year Fashion Design seniors design and build their own collection, which they unveil at the senior fashion show. Presented on a professional runway, this is one of CCAD’s most popular annual events for the public and for professionals in the fashion industry. Many of our graduates are independent designers, while others work for well-known companies such as Limited Brands, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, and Pepe Jeans of London.

  • Tuition Costs Are Rising At Unprecedented Rates

    http://www.schoolsforme.net

The headline says it all.  Tuition costs have escalated to the point where students are demonstrating.  In fact, it's not unusual for a student to graduate from school hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

This makes it imperative to spend some time choosing the right school to help you achieve your goals.  Sadly, in this age of hyper-inflated tuition costs, a college degree does not guarantee a job, much less a career.

One strategy that is often overlooked when choosing a school is to talk to people who are successful in the career you want to pursue.  If you don't know anyone in your chosen field, you can often find much of this valuable information online.

The more entrepreneurial individual might go so far as to enroll in the "University of Hard Knocks" and just go for it.  The reasoning is simple: he can start his career behind the wheel of a Bentley, instead of owing his college what a Bentley costs by the time he graduates.

We're by no means advocating dropping out of school, or not pursuing an education.  However, we are advocating that you look before you leap.

The MBA in the corner office, fresh out of business school with a six-figure paycheck, is a standard trope of Corporate America. Every incoming student has heard rags-to-riches tales of that gilded certification leading to giant paychecks and even bigger bonuses. But how often do these MBA fairy tales actually come true? According to new research: not as often as you think.Read more »
