DESCRIPTION
The prestigious culinary arts program at Aims Academy blends classical French cuisine with American in a nine month culinary specific program. Aims Academy offers its students a practical hands-on approach to innovative methods and classical culinary techniques. The school’s acclaimed faculty of executive chefs offers over 100 years of hospitality industry experience. The training at Aims Academy School of Culinary Arts covers the diverse areas of culinary arts including knife skills, fabrication, food service management, practical baking and pastries, food service production, and a directed internship at an area hotel or restaurant.
Daily hands-on practice provides our students with the opportunity to master competencies through a developing sequence of recipes designed to cover the cooking techniques, preparation and presentation of a wide range of food products. Knowledge and understanding of the identification, selection, classification, storage, preparation and cooking of foods are presented in daily lectures. Personal palate development and an understanding of the compatibility of food and wines are also included in the culinary arts program.
ADVANTAGES
Aim Academy’s culinary arts program teaches French and American cooking in a 9-month, hands-on learning experience. Students learn knife skills, food service management, culinary skills, baking, pastry making and food production in small groups from professional chefs. The program uses a competency/mastery format. After completing the classroom portion of the program, students must also complete an internship at a local restaurant or hotel. Students who have not completed high school yet can earn a diploma concurrently with culinary arts certification.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
The advanced segment prepares students for graduation into their first internship. Content includes soups, stocks, and sauces, garde manger techniques, international cuisine, and advanced chef skills.

CERTIFICATIONS
Aims Academy is accredited through the former Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, now known as the Commission on Education (C.O.E.). The school is certified to provide bartender and server training by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
SUMMARY
Aims offers practical, hands-on career training to get you out of the classroom and into a job as quickly and efficiently as possible. At the same time, you leave school prepared to do that job well. You learn from industry professionals in small groups, allowing for plenty of interaction with the instructors. Some certification courses are offered online, making it possible for you to get job-related certification in a way that is quick, thorough and convenient.
