DESCRIPTION

The massage therapy program that is offered at the Career Technical College provides students with the education they need to become licensed massage therapists. Students will study various areas of the body with a focus on the overall well being of the body.

When students graduate from this program, they will be prepared to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Graduates have gone on to pursue careers in health clubs, spas, medical offices, and some have even opened their own practices.

ADVANTAGES

Students have access to the full services of the Career Development Center, which helps graduates locate employment positions in their preferred field. The Center provides advice and direction to each graduate and helps them send out resumes and provides them with leads.

Student development is an ongoing focus at Career Technical College. Academic, occupational, and personal development is encouraged for all students. This emphasis is supported during the student’s entire program of study by both academic and student services personnel.

FINANCIAL AID

Students who wish to utilize federal and state funding to assist with their college expenses are encouraged to apply through the financial assistance office.

CERTIFICATIONS

The Career Technical College is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and is also licensed by the State of Louisiana Massage Therapy Board. These designations make it possible for the college to award degrees to matriculating students.

SUMMARY

The Massage Specialist program provides training for an entry-level career as a professional massage therapist. Students develop the knowledge necessary to develop massage protocol and perform an extensive therapeutic massage with focus on whole body wellness. Graduates are prepared for employment opportunities in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, medical offices, and private practice and are eligible to sit for the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork; or, graduates may elect to continue their education to earn the Massage Therapy associate degree.

    The headline says it all.  Tuition costs have escalated to the point where students are demonstrating.  In fact, it's not unusual for a student to graduate from school hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

    This makes it imperative to spend some time choosing the right school to help you achieve your goals.  Sadly, in this age of hyper-inflated tuition costs, a college degree does not guarantee a job, much less a career.
